Sri.  R. Selvaraj, who won the Neyattinkara by-poll as UDF candidate, sworn in as MLA on 18 June 2012. Sri.  R. Selvaraj took oath of office in the name of God.
He had secured 52,528 votes in the poll defeating his nearest rival Sri. F. Lawrence of CPI (M) by a margin of 6,334 votes.
