Government Intervenes to Sell Vegetables @ 30 per cent Less
The state Government has decided to sell vegetables at 30 per cent less than the prevailing market price to curtail price hike. Horticorp has been chosen as the nodal Agency for the purpose who will sell vegetables through their outlets. Selected outlets of Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) and Vegetables and Fruits Promotion Council Keralam (VFPCK) will also be used for the purpose.
The decision was taken at a high level meeting convened by Chief Minister Shri. Oommen Chandy on 22 May 2012. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri. Anoop Jacob , Agriculture Minister Shri. K. P. Mohanan were also present.
Horticorp will dedicate its 98 outlets across the state. VFPCK will make use of its selected 25 retail outlets and two Big Bazaar malls at Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi and Supplyco, it’s 42 selected outlets. The overseeing of functionalities of these outlets has been entrusted to Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri. Subrato Biswas.
