E-District projects

Kerala E-District project envisages modernisation of offices and sub-offices of district administration and automation of various government processes and thereby Citizens would be able to track their applications and requests for government services online. It is intended to provide Government services to citizens through Common Service Centers (CSC) which are easily accessible through. Services from different departments are brought under one umbrella at any CSC.

It is envisaged that the Common Service Centers would act as the front end for acceptance of applications and delivery of the services for the e-District project. The project utilizes backend computerization to e-enable the delivery of services and ensures transparency and uniform application of rules. The project involves integrated and seamless delivery of services to public by automation, integration and incorporating user friendly technology where ever required. In a nutshell E-district is a tailor made program for minimizing effort and time to provide prompt and effective services to the public.

The project is part of the national e-governance plan approved by the Centre in 2006 to make all government services accessible to the common man in his locality, through common service delivery outlets, at affordable costs and in the most efficient, transparent and reliable manner. The e-District project is a boon to the State’s e-Governance implementation programme, in which majority of the G2Cand G2G services are delivered by the district administration leveraging Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).

This project is a Mission Mode Project (MMP) under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), funded by Government of India. The key focus is on citizen-centric services as against merely computerization of the Departments.
