Entered Politics as ISU President of Eadamana U P School in 1956; Was Kannur Taluk Secretary, President, Kannur District Secretary, General Secretary, Kerala State Vice President and President (1969-71) of Kerala Students Union; Kannur District Vice President and Convener of Youth Congress; Elected as Member of Parliament in 1971 and 1977; Convener, Kerala State Congress Party in Parliament; Member, Parliament Public Accounts Committee, Railway Ministry Consultative Committee, Consultative Committee of Ministry of Communication; State General Secretary of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (S) (1989). Fully committed with Gandhian Thoughts and propagating the slogan “Back to Gandhi, Save India”.

Now serving as State President, Congress (S). Formerly elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1980. Now represent Edakkad constituency.
