First library to came into existence in Kerala was the Trivandrum Public Library.It was started by the middle of last century. During the first quarter of the 20th century more libraries came out. It become an organized movement when the All-Travancore Grandhasala Sangham came into being in 1949. Later its name was changed to Kerala Grandhasala Sangham.
