KSAVRC: Kerala State Audio-Visual and Reprographic Centre

About the Organisation

Kerala State Audio-Visual and Reprographic Centre is an autonomous institution established by the Government of Kerala in the year 1992 as per G.O.(MS) 73/92/H.Edn dt. 28.04.1992.  The main objectives of the Centre is to impart training in the field of Computer, Office Automation, Printing and Reprography to the educated unemployed youth and to undertake Printing and Reprographic works for the Government Departments/Autonomous Bodies/Public sector.  The Centre has got a Governing Body consisting of fifteen members, Minister for Education, Kerala State, being its Chairman and Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department as its Vice Chairman.  The administration of the Centre is vested with the Executive Committee consisting of five members,  the Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, Kerala State as its Chairman and Managing Director as its Member Secretary.

The Head Office of the Centre is located at Thiruvananthapuram.  The Institution has got 16 Centres/Units spread all over Kerala State as detailed below:
   1. Reprographic Complex, Vattiyoorkkavu, Thiruvananthapuram.
   2. Training Centre, Pazhavangadi, Thiruvananthapuram.
   3. Sub-Centre, Kollam.
   4. Extension Centre, Anchal.
   5. Sub-Centre, Pathanamthitta.
   6. Sub-Centre, Alappuzha.
   7. Sub-Centre, Kottayam.
   8. Extension Centre, Erattupettah.
   9. Extension Centre, Kaduthuruthi.
10. Sub-Centre, Thodupuzha.
11. Sub-Centre, Ernakulam.
12. Sub-Centre, Tirur.
13. Extension Centre, Manjeri.
14. Extension Centre, Perinthalmanna.
15. Sub-Centre, Kozhikkode.
16. Extension Centre, Vadakara.

The Reprographic Complex is the main production unit of the Centre.  The Complex is situated in one acre fifteen cents of land situated close to Central Polytechnic, Thiruvananthapuram and has two multi-storied buildings having a plinth area of 10,000 sq.ft. each.   The Complex has almost all the Printing and Reprographic Equipments viz. Web Offset Printing, HMT Multi-Colour Sheet-fed Offset Printing, HMT Single Colour Sheet-fed Offset Printing, Double/Single Demy size, Automatic Folding, Digital Scanner cum Printer, Engineering Plan Printer, Automatic Paper Cutting, Automatic Binding, Three-way Trimmer, High Speed Binding,  Automatic Laminating, Ruling, Screen Printing, Vertical Reproduction Camera, Automatic Plate Processor, Comb Binding, Spiral Binding , Document Laminator, Ammonia Printing, Perforating, Stitching Machines, Retouching Table, Lining-up Table, Photocopiers, Computer Systems,  Laser Printer, Ink-jet Printer, Flat-bed scanner, Colour Scanner, Automatic Cylinder Press etc.

The Reprographic Complex has got separate confidential unit for undertaking confidential works.  The Complex is working round-the clock and can undertake Printing and Reprographic works with speed and promptitude.

The main income of the Centre is by way of Commercial Operation and from Training in computer and Printing Technology.  The Centre has more than 850 employees in its roll and the income of the Centre was Rs. 7.51 lakhs in 1992 which rose to Rs.925 lakhs in 2001.
