The
Organization
The
Energy Management Centre-Kerala is an autonomous body under
the Department of Power, Government of Kerala, devoted to
the improvement of energy efficiency in the State, promotion
of energy conservation, Small Hydro Power and encouraging
development of technologies related to energy through research,
training, demonstration programmes and awareness creation.
The centre is networking with institutions within and outside
the State for research and training. The UNIDO Regional
Centre for Small Hydro Power (www.unidorc.org) is established
in this organization to spread Small Hydro Power. Also,
the sub centre of International network on Small Hydro Power
(INSHP) is also working in this organization. EMC is the
designated agency to enforce the Energy Conservation Act
2001 in the state of Kerala. The Small Hydro Promotion Cell
of Government of Kerala is working within the organization
to promote IPP/CPP based power project in Kerala. For further
