Local Fund Audit Department
The
Director of Local Fund Audit is the State Level Head of
the Department and also the Treasurer of Charitable Endowments
of the State of Kerala . He is assisted by 2 Joint Directors,
2 Dy. Directors and 13 Audit officers at the head office
in the administration of the Department. There are 14 district
level offices, under the control of the Deputy Directors
of Local Fund Audit for the audit of accounts of Grama Panchayat,
Block Panchayat, District Panchayat, Municipal councils,
Deposit accounts of the courts subordinate to the Hon. High
Court of Kerala, Miscellaneous and Grant-in-aid institutions
etc.The system of concurrent audit is in vogue in 5 Municipal
corporations, 9 Municipal Councils, Universities and institutions
like Kerala State Housing Board , Kerala State Rural Development
Board , State Institute of Languages, State Institute of
Encylopaedic Publications, Cochin and Travancore Devaswom
Boards, Guruvayoor Devaswom, Trivandrum Development Authority,
Greater Cochin Development Authority and Calicut Development
Authority.Apart from these, the H.R.E Audit offices at Palakkad
and Thalassery are entrusted with the audit of accounts
of temples coming under the Madras Hindu Religious and Charitable
Endowment Act in the erstwhile Malabar area. A Training
Centre for newly recruited auditors is also functioning
at Thiruvananthapuram. The centre is headed by a Joint Director
of Local Fund Audit deployed from the Directorate.
