Housing Complexes (EWS)
This scheme is formulated for the weakest among
the economically weaker sections of the society. The slum
dwellers who reside on the road sides, small canals and
other no-mans' land. It is proposes to construct 50, 000
houses within a period of 5 years spreading over 1000 panchayats.
Land for the purpose is purchased through negotiation, if
no suitable government land is available. Construction of
3635 units has been completed in different
panchayaths and construction of another 147 units are in
progress.
Slum
Clearance Scheme
The scheme envisages rehabilitation of slum dwellers
in Chengalchoola in Thiruvananthapuram city. The flats
are being allotted free of cost to the eligible. Under
this scheme construction of 616 flats has been completed
and 528 units have been allotted. Now this scheme has been
transferred to Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.
The housing scheme for beedi workers
The KSHB has launched a housing scheme for beedi
workers as a pilot project for the benefit of 1000 Beedi
workers in the state. The scheme is intended to give loan assistance
to the Beedi workers to the tune of rest 6,500 and got subsidy
of rest 2,000 for constructing houses of costing of rest
12,000. The loan amount has to be repaid in 15 years with
the interest of 7%. So far 434 units have been completed
under this scheme.
Special housing scheme for LIG
Board has decided to implement a special scheme for
low income groups. Houses with plinth a of 50 esq. will
be given to LIG group of people at a total cost Rs 3 lakhs.
Suvarna jubilee housing
scheme
This scheme intends to give financial assistance
to all SC/ST categories with the assistance of SC/ST department,
the maximum amount of loan assistance to a beneficiary is
RS 35,000/-. This amount need not be repaid by the
beneficiaries.
Sampoorna” housing scheme
This scheme intends to give technical and financial assistance
to all families having no house in their own in a selected
panchayath in each district with the help of panchayath,
voluntary organization and persons through Housing Board.
Old Age Home
Board has decided to build old age homes in all
major cities of the State. Suitable government land
has to be identified for this scheme. The layout plans
for old age home at Kozhikode has been prepared. The
work will be started soon. The project in other district
will be implemented in the coming years.
Rehabilitation housing scheme
The scheme was started in June 1985. The beneficiaries
of this scheme were given loan assistance of RS 4,500/-
and subsidy of Rs.1,500/- for the construction of houses
of costing of RS 6,000/- financial assistance were provided
for the construction of 1,48,772 houses in the I & II
phases of the scheme. The rate of interest of the
loan was 8.75% per annum and the period of repayment spreads
over 9 years. The III phase of the scheme was started
in March 1987. The beneficiaries were given loan assistance
of RS 7,677/- and subsidy of Rs.1,500/- for the construction
of houses worth RS 9,177/-. The subsidy portion is
met by the government and the concerned local body
at RS 750/- each. The repayment period fixed is 15
years. The scheme is implemented through the revenue
authorities.
LIG Cash loan scheme
Under the LIG scheme, a person whose annual income
ranges from 21601 to 51600/- rupees and has at least 3 cents
of land is eligible for getting loan assistance of RS 1,25,000/-
for constructing a house. The loan amount will have to be
repaid in 168 monthly installments with the interest of
13.5%. Under the scheme, during 1996-97 to 03/2002 sanctions
were issued for the construction of 10811 units and the
construction of 9598 units were completed. The amount
disbursed under the scheme during the period is 6091.246
lakhs.
The Kairali Housing Scheme
The Kairali Housing Scheme was launched on 28th
Dec. 1990. The beneficiaries of this scheme will get
a loan assistance of Rs.10,033/- for constructing houses
of costing of Rs.11,803/-. No subsidy is given to
the beneficiaries. The scheme is intended for EWS category.It
was proposed to construct 25,000 houses each in the I &
II phase of the scheme. The beneficiaries are selected
by the Revenue Authorities as in the case Rehabilitation
Housing Scheme.
