            Sub:- Higher Education Department – Selection of candidates to Management Quota seats – Option of choosing the Entrance Test – reg.

            In the judgment dated 14^th August 2003, the Hon’ble Supreme Court had ordered that the managements of un-aided professional colleges could select students of their quota, either on the basis of the Common entrance test conducted by the state or on the basis of a common entrance test conducted by an association of all colleges of a particular type in that State, e.g. Medical, Engineering or Technical etc. The Common Entrance test, held by the Association, must be for admission to all colleges of that type in the State. The option of choosing between either these tests, must be exercised by each College before the issuing of prospectus and after intimation to the concerned authority and the Committee set up. If any Prof.College chooses not to admit from the Common entrance test conducted by the association, then that college must necessarily admit from the Common entrance test conducted by the State.

            As the prospectus has to be finalized by 20^th November 2003 it is necessary that the unaided professional colleges in the state to furnish the information before 20.11.2003. Therefore, you are requested to intimate your option before 20^th November 2003, to the Principal Secretary (Higher Education) without fail, with copy to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. If no reply is received before that date, it will be presumed that admission in the management quota will be made from the rank lists prepared by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.
