DRUGS
CONTROL DEPARTMENT
The
Organisation
An
agency of the state Government to tackle the menace of spurious
and adulterated drugs by regulating Manufacturing, Sales
and Distribution of drugs.
Drugs
Control Department, a whole time law enforcement department,
was formed in the year 1961 under the Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare. It enforces the following legislations/orders
concerned with manufacture and sale of all kind of drugs
and cosmetic items in the State.
1)Drugs
and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Rules 1945.
2)Drugs
Price Control Order 1995 issued by the Government of India
under the essential commodities Act 1955.
3)The
Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act
1954
4)The
Drugs and other stores (unlawful possession) Act 1971.
5)Rules
relating to the Poison Act 1919, issued by Government of
Kerala.
