Kerala Folklore Akademi

Organizational Structure
The Kerala Folklore Akademi was started in 1995, in Kannur District. It is an autonomous institution, closely associated with Folklore subjects. The Akademi administration comes under the department of culture, Government of Kerala.
Objectives and functions
The promote the traditional folk arts of Kerala.
To provide opportunities for training of boys and girls in the traditional arts of Kerala.
To record these arts scientifically and classify them.
To honour artists by giving awards and fellowships.
To give awards to high quality research publication on these arts.
Extension of the activities of folklore Akademy.
To make necessary arrangements for folklore studies and research in all the universities of Kerala.
The Akademi publishes books promoting culture and traditional art forms.
Programmes
Folk art gallery expansion.
Documentation of folk art and folk artists.
Publication of books on folk arts.
Endowing Fellowship and awards for folklore artists.
Conducting state level folk festivals, seminars and exhibition.
Affiliation of folk clubs at college level.
