EMPLOYMENT ORIENTED CO-OPERATIVES

            In order to generate more employment opportunities in Co-operative Sector, employment oriented co-operative such as Auto rickshaw/Taxi Drivers Co-operative Societies, Co-operative Printing Press, Co-operative Educational Societies, Labour Contract Societies etc. have been organised.  Out of 450 Co-operatives registered under the category, 71 Societies are running on profit and remaining on loss.  In order to ensure larger participation of women in Co-operative Sector, and to provide more employment opportunities, 569 women Co-operatives have been organised.  Four Ready Made Garment Manufacturing Vanitha Co-operatives registered in order to provide employment opportunities to 640 women also comes under the category.  A Regional Co-operative Society for coordinating the activities of these societies was also registered in Kozhikode District.

            Another venture in the sector was the organization of Sahithya Pravarthaka Sahakarana Sangham (S.P.C.S Ltd).  The society continues it’s function as a dependant institution  of writers.  Printing and Publication of books written by eminent writers in different field is the main object of the society.  It is having modernised printing and relinquishing unit which was set up with the financial assistance of Government of Kerala under Rehabilitation Package Scheme
