I ) Subordinate departments functioning under various
Ayurveda Colleges.
1.
Ayurveda College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram:-
This
is the biggest Ayurveda Hospital in India. The sanctioned
strength of the hospital is 380 beds including pay wards.
These beds are allotted to various departments.
Medicines and food are free for poor patients. Costly treatments
like Pancha Karma etc are also offered free of cost for
the poor.
2.
Government Ayurveda College Hospital for Women &
Children Thiruvananthapuram.
This
is only Ayurveda Hospital exclusively for Women & Children.
Department of Prassothithantra & Streeroga and Kaumarabhrithyatha
functioning in this institute. An allopathic wing with 4
Allopathic doctors and a Family planning unit also functioning
in this institution. The total number of bed strength of
this hospital is 106.

Ayurveda College, Pharmacy at Thiruvananthapuram and
Thrippunthura:-
A
well-maintained and well-equipped pharmacy is working under
the head of the department of Rasasastra & Bhaishajyakalpana.
Kazhaya, taila, ghritha, Choorna, Arishta and Asava Gulika
Vatika, Bhasma etc are being prepared exclusively for the
Hospitals attached to Ayurveda College.
Drug
testing laboratory is functioning under the Pharmacy for
the evaluation of the medicines prepared from the Pharmacy,
single drug testing and dietary articles from Hospitals
attached to Ayurveda College hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.
4.
Ayurveda College Hospital, Thrippunithara.
A 137 bedded hospital is functioning under Govt.Ayurveda
College Thrippunithura. The construction of a 350 bedded
hospital is nearing completion in this college.
5.
Ayurveda College Hospital Kannur.
A
100-bedded hospital is functioning under Government Ayurveda
College Kannur. This hospital occupies prime position in
the whole Malabar area. Apart from this construction of
a 150-bedded hospital is nearing completion.
6.
Library:-
A
big collection of Ayurveda & modern books including
Scientific Journals, Periodicals and Manuscripts are available
in each Libraries.
7.
General: -
Anatomy
hall, Physiology lab, Clinical Laboratory, X-ray, ECG, Physiotherapy
Surgical theatre, Panchakarma theatre, etc are functioning
fruitfully for the educational purpose of the students and
also helping the patients for their treatment in all Govt.

Pancha Karma Hospital Complex:
Panchakarma
Hospital functioning under Government Ayurveda College,
Thiruvananthapuram is world famous and it offers the specialty
treatment of Panchakarma. Swasthavritha department and Agadathantra
departments are also working under this hospital complex.
The total Number of bed strength of this Hospital is 42.
b)
Ayurveda Research Institute: -
The
Ayurveda Research Institute comprises of following units.
i)
Pharmacognocy Unit
A
well maintained Medicinal plant garden, Model Demonstration
garden and a Medicinal plant Nursery are the highlights
in this institute. Near about 800 species of plants including
rare and endanger of varieties are available here. The object
of this institution is to Project, Cultivate and Preserve
rare and endangered species of medicinal plants. Research
works related to the object is also being carried out here.
ii)
Drug Standardisation Unit
Drug
Standardization unit also attached to the Pharmacognocy
unit also functioning here. The object of this institution
is to standardize the Ayurveda Medicines and prescribe uniform
standard for all Ayurveda drugs. Research works related
to finding the active ingredients of Ayurveda Medicines
and drugs are being done here.
iii)
Open Snake Park and Serpentarium
There is an open snake park and serpentarium is functioning
in Panchakarma Hospital Complex. Highly poisonous and non-poisonous
snakes and reptiles are kept here. Publics are allowed to
witness the extraction of venom from the poisonous snakes.
Lecture class on first aid techniques on snakebites are
also given to the public during the demonstration time.
Museum having charts and stuffed bodies of various poisonous
animals is also attached to this serpentarium. An animal
house is also functioning here which produces animals like
Guinea pigs, white rabbits, albino rats and other rodent
for research purpose.

) Publication Division
Publication
division functioning under Government Ayurveda College,
Thiruvananthapuram is only one of its kind in Kerala where
Ayurveda books alone are published for students and General
public. The books published here are of great demand. Collection
and preservation of Manuscript and Thaliyolas (Scripts on
Palm leaf) are also being done here.
