A. 1. Production of TxD Hybrid Coconut Seedlings (50% C.S.S)
During 2001-2002 the Coconut Development Board has accorded administrative approval for the production of 1.5 lakh number of TxD seedlings as per letter no. 223/2001/PA dated 11.6.2001. The total amount sanctioned by Government of India under the scheme is Rs. 35.50 lakhs. The hybrid seed nuts will be produced and procured from selected gardens in Kannur and Thrissur districts and sown in the Coconut Nurseries under the department. The amount will be utilised for meeting the cost of seed nuts, transportation charges, labour charges, staff cost and other contingencies. 50% of the sale proceeds of the coconut seedling will be given to CDB.The expenditure incurred from the Head of Account : 2401-00-108-96

B. 1. Development of oilseeds under TMCP (75% C.S.S)
The objective of the scheme is production and distribution of quality seed, demonstration of improved package of practices in oilseed, distribution of pp -equipments, rhizobium culture and gypsum, training to farmers etc. The following are the components of the scheme:-

C 1. Minikit of rice (100% C.S.S.)
The objective of the scheme is to popularise newly released varieties of rice in farmers' fields as well as to expose the rice growers in these varieties to enable them to choose the best ones suited to their locality. The size of the kit will be 2 kg costing Rs. 38- per kit. The seed kit will be distributed to farmers at a nominal cost of Rs.4/- per kit (10% of the cost of the minikit). The varieties proposed for distribution are Athira, Ayswaria, Kanchana, Makam, Pachami, Uma, Ragini, and Kumbham. The expenditure incurred from the Head of Account : 2401-00-102-98

2. Minikit demonstration programme for maize and millets (100% C.S.S)

3. C.D.B. Scheme for integrated farming in coconut holdings (100% C.S.S)
This scheme aims at maximising production of coconut by adapting improved management practices. Assistance will be provided under the scheme for cutting and removal of disease affected / senile palms, replanting with seedlings, lay out of demonstration plots, fertiliser application and plant protection and multi-species cropping in coconut gardens.The expenditure incurred from the Head of Account : 2401-00-104-94

4. Promotion of oilseeds (NOVOD Board) (100% C.S.S)

Sesamum or Gingely (Sesamum indicum) is a traditionally cultivated seasonal oilseed of Kerala. Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has developed and released a number of improved varieties viz. Kayamkulam - 1, Thilothama, Soma, Surya, Thilak, for cultivation in uplands and lowlands. Varieties like Kayamkalum -1, Thilothama, Soma and Thilak are suitable for cultivation in summer rice fallows. The expenditure incurred from the Head of Account : 2401-00-114-99

5. N.H.B. Project for nutritional garden in rural areas (100% C.S.S)
The objective is to improve the nutritional status of rural masses through increased availability of fruits. For this rural families will be given graft and seedlings of fruit plants. The expenditure incurred from the Head of Account 2401- 00-119-99 (14).

6. National Project on biogas development. (100% C.S.S)
The objective of the scheme is to popularise biogas energy as a source of alternate and natural energy source. This is proposed to be achieved though training courses and by giving subsidy for setting up biogas units. The components of the scheme are setting up of biogas plants, Repair of old nonfunctional plants, communication, publicity, service charges and staff support and conduct training courses. The expenditure incurred from the Head of Account : 2810-01-101-99

Schemes under Marco Management
1. Rice development
Summary of interventions proposed for rice crop is given below:-
1. Seed production programmes
2. Land and other infrastructure development
3. Assistance for purchase of HYV seed
4. Assistance for soil ameliorants

6. Promotion of INM in rice

7. Assistance for seedicides.

2. Pepper development
The Summary of interventions to be undertaken are:-
1. Production and distribution of hybrid/improved varieties- 50 lakhs nos.
2. Establishment of progeny gardens.
3. Development of infrastructure facilities for pepper nurseries
4. Pepper rehabilitation @ Rs. 4,000/- per ha for 8000 ha
5. Execution Infrastructure

3. Other Spices (Ginger, Turmeric, Vanilla & Tree spices)
The Programmes for development of Ginger and Turmeric are multiplication of planting materials, layout of field demonstrations etc. The expenditure incurred from the Head of Account : 2401-00-800-61(3)
